In Mexico, each state is responsible for its driving regulations, and the issuance of its own driving licenses. Drivers need to prove they reside in the state in order to obtain that state's license, which will be valid in any other state.
Mexican citizens and legal residents can only acquire a driver’s license once they have turned 18, and it is usually valid for 3 years. Minors under 16 years of age or older can get a driving permit valid from 1–6 months to 2 years, with the consent of the parents or legal guardian.
